About the College

The Highmoon Bard College was established in 1371 D.R. by Criz of Highmoon. This low level bard decided to suppliment his life as an adventurer/explorer, by opening a small college for bards in the town of Highmoon. The college offers the opportunity for travelling bards to rest for a few days, preform, teach and/or be taught. Visiting bards are encouraged to submit one of their creations to the Library as a simple "payment" for the services of the college.

Ground Floor

The path leading up to the college has an alarm spell which triggers a magic mouth to appear in the wall nearest to Criz and inform him of the arrivals and provides a brief description of them.
The entrance hall has hooks on the wall for cloaks and bags, and opposite the door is a table with leaflets on it describing the college and its surroundings. The door can be magically locked by activating spell runes hidden in each of the rooms of the college, the locations of which only Criz knows.
The Recital room contains low wooden benches for watching the performance, and a small stage for the performers.
The Library has thick walls insulated with cork to prevent any performances from disturbing anyone studying. Books and scrolls of bard work and magic fill the shelves and the walls. The Library is kept locked by Criz to prevent people wandering in unannounced, and out again with books and scrolls. Access to the Library's works can be gained under Criz's watchful eye.

First Floor

From the spiral staircase, a corridor leads to two guestrooms, where bards *only* may lodge for the night (Criz may let non-bards stay there under exceptional circumstances). The rooms are simple, and contain a single bed and a wash stand. One of the rooms also contains an empty bookshelf. At the end of the corridor, a door leads into Criz's study. They study is bare and simple. The desk is usually empty, or only has one or two papers of Criz's work on it. If under threat, Criz will magically lock the door to the corridor from the inside. Criz's bedroom is also fairly simple. The bookcase is full of scrolls, parchment and musical instruments belonging to Criz. This room is Criz's last retreat against attack, and contains a dimensional door. If a hidden rune on the bookcase is activated, the bookcase and anyone touching it, will be transported to the main hall of the Leaves of Learning, the large temple of Oghma in the town of Highmoon.

The Tower Battlements

At the top of the spiral staircase is a locked trapdoor. It is locked with a padlock to which Criz has the key. On the battlements stands Criz's telescope, which he uses to pursue his interest in astronomy. It is not magical.
