What do different people do in their projects?
The European Voluntary Service offers many different types of projects from environmental work to working with disabled people. Just a handful of brief examples are given below...
Clara and Elena from Spain:
- We are working in the same association which has many social activities. One of them is to take care of children in a kindergarten: it is what we do. We have to work 40 hours a week. We had no experience with children.
Dessi from Bulgaria and Robin from England
- We work at the memorial to the former Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald. We give guided tours of the site as well as working in the reception, archive and library. As the year progresses we will work in more and more different areas, including working with former prisoners.
Marga from Spain
- I work with handicaped people and I help them in every-day life. I go swimming with them or to gymnastic lessons or I go shopping with them.
Medde from Denmark
- I work with people who have alcohol problems and homeless people. They live in a center where they have to do manual work. I have a lot of contact with them but there is not an activites program. I only have to be with them and, for
example, play cards with them.
Myriam from France
