Although Ivogun didn't premier in this role, Richard Strauss considered her "unique and without rival in this role." In a letter he later wrote to her, he also described her as being "incomparable" as Zerbinetta.

She was an accomplished Mozart singer. J. B. Steane in his book, Singers of the Century, considers that her performance of the Queen of the Night as "her first triumph."
