King DDê' Minh, third generation of King Thâ`n Nông, during a trip to Ngu Linh mountains (now Hô` Nam province), met and married the Goddess Vu. Tiên, borned a son named Lô.c Tu.c. Later, DDê' Minh gave the Northern land to the eldest son DDê' Nghi, and the Southern land to Lô.c Tu.c.

Lô.c Tu.c took the title of King Kinh Du*o*ng Vu*o*ng, named his land Xich Quy (2879 BC). Kinh Du*o*ng Vu*o*ng married Long Nu*~, who was the daughter of King of the Sea DDô.ng DDình Quân. They borned a son named Sùng La~m, titled La.c Long Quân. La.c Long Quân married A^u Co* of King DDê' Lai (son of King DDê' Nghi), and borned 100 sons.

Later La.c Long Quân told A^u Co*: "I descended from the Dragon family, preferring water, while you are a descendant of the Goddess family, preferring land; therefore, we cannot stay together long. Now I take 50 sons and go toward the sea, you take 50 sons and to toward the mountains, dividing the land among us to rule, but should always stay united.

The eldest son stayed at Phong Châu, titled King Hùng Vu*o*ng, named the land Vån Lang, and divided the land into 15 parts governed among his brothers.
