Guanzi
The Guanzi was
called "Bili" in the ancient times. Drawings of this
instrument have been discovered in carvings dating back to 460
BC. This ancient instrument of Chinese origin is a wooden pipe
with eight finger-holes and a reed mouthpiece. With clear and
plain timbre, the guanzi is rich in local flavour.
The Double Guanzi is
like the Guanzi accept that instead of having one pipe, it has
two, with its mouthpieces being blown simultaneously. The
instrument was already in use during the Sui Dynasty (581 - 618),
and produces gentle and mournful notes.
