Biography

 

Abraham Fabella, born in 1975, is a graduate student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He plans to receive his Master of Music degree in Composition. He received his Bachelor of Music degree summa cum laude at La Sierra University in 1997. He has also had additional postgraduate training at the University of California, Riverside.

As a solo pianist, he has had the opportunity to perform with conductors such as Grant Gershon, Jon Robertson, Barbara Favorito, Ruth Charloff, and Jing-you Lou. He has performed Beethoven's "Les Adieux" sonata at the Redlands Bowl and gave the Chinese premiere of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra in 1996. He most recently won the Vena Yin Sheng Piano Competition. He has studied piano with Kimo Smith and chamber music with Lyndon Johnston Taylor among others.

In the winter of 1998, he seriously turned to composition under the guidance of Byron Adams, Professor of Music at the University of California, Riverside. Besides being a composer, Mr. Fabella is Director of Music at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in San Mateo, California. He is also widely sought as an accompanist.
