The Stranger

golden leaves
cover the grass
that hides the earth.
on the ground,
I am tiny
and meaningless.
the world stretches out,
above me and beside me,
swallowing me.
immense, frightening,
the pointless rush of life
surrounds me,
paying me absolutley
no mind.
I am tiny, worthless,
a fleck of dirt,
a grain of sand.
walk by me, but
you won't see me.
stare at me, and still
you won't realize I'm here.
Invisible, miniscule,
I watch everything,
I know everything,
though nothing
knows me or sees me.
