Many Feel the ‘Kennedy Curse’ Has Struck Again

assassination.
The Kennedy family is seeking solace for this latest tragedy the same way it has so many times before:
by attending Mass and walking along the ocean.
There has been no statement from the family, huddled at its compound in Hyannisport.
An official decision was made Sunday night to switch from a search and rescue operation to a search
and recovery effort.
“I have spent some very painful moments with the families tonight,” Coast Guard Rear Adm. Richard M. Larrabee
said Sunday night, as he admitted that hope for finding survivors was all but lost.
“I think they understand. They have been very appreciative of what we have been trying to do.”
This morning, prayers were being led by three Catholic priests who were originally
with the family to conduct Saturday’s wedding of Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, Rory.

After two days searching and hoping for a miracle, the US Coast Guard has admitted
John F Kennedy, his wife and sister-in-law are almost certainly dead.
The light aircraft flown by Mr Kennedy is believed to have crashed into the sea off
the eastern state of Massachusetts late on Friday.
Rear Admiral Richard Larrabee of the US Coast Guard said: "We are going to shift
from our focus on search and rescue to search and recovery."
The admiral said the decision had been taken after evaluating the probability
of survival after so many hours in waters of the Atlantic.
"I have spent some very painful moments with the families tonight,"
Admiral Larrabee added.
"They have all been very gracious and very appreciative ... and they thank
all of the people who were involved."
Mr Kennedy and his wife Carolyn had been travelling to the family home at Hyannisport
for the wedding of a cousin Rory - the daughter of the late Senator Robert F Kennedy -
when the aircraft disappeared.
The wedding, due to take place on Saturday before 275 guests, has been postponed.
