This is the work that Rob does...In October this year I will recommence the life of a student when I start a PhD in Astronomy - so I can tell you your stars. Actually, I am really excited even though I have no idea what I am doing and I expect the graduate studies board here at Cambridge will fuck it all up given a minute fraction of a chance. If all does go well, I'll be working at the Insititute of Astronomy. They have a great scheme whereby they take in brainless wasters such as myself... and train them in the art of being star-gazers. I love my job! :) I suppose I should go and get on with it then! I used to work at the UK Met. Office doing some boring computer programming stuff on a project which defined two words: Legacy and Dilbert. Due to their reluctance to enter the 21st century, among other things such as crap pay, I left for the lures of the student grant and the student lifestyle (and some interesting work!). I did meet some lovely people there though! Even before that, sometime back in the dark ages, I was at Cambridge University - a dodgy place somewhere in the large swamps that make up Eastern England. I studied Physics and extensive Ganjology - the two going well together (one driving me mad, the other calming me down). I now have a loathing for complicated, abstract mathematical theories and much prefer pretty pictures. |
