Tatiana, considered by most to be the most elegant of the Grand Duchesses, was the second child of Nicholas and Alexandra. It was said of Tatiana that when you talked with her, you knew you were in the presence of the daughter of the Tsar. She was born 29 May 1897 (OS) at tsarskoe Selo and was the tallest of the four. She was the ''mother hen'' with the younger children, a role which didn't seem to bother the eldest, Olga any. She served as a nurse during WWI with her mother and Olga.

She was 21 when she was killed by the Bolsheviks in 1918.

Tatiana had a little dog named Ortino, who was the subject for some of Faberge's ''creations.''
