Excerpts from Articles and records on Early Meriwether County |
In the publication, Historical Account of Meriwether County, 1827-1974, compiled by Regina P. Pinkston and printed by the Gresham Printing Company in Greenville, Georgia, it is stated that Henry Harris had an unincorporated town, Harris City, named after him because he owned most of the land in the neighborhood in the early days of its settlement. This publication also has a photo of Col. Henry R. Harris' home, and says that William T. Harris was elected as one of the first Justices of the Inferior Court on February 11, 1828. |
