Putting It All Together

The best way to show you how all these sections fit together is to run though an example. Let's take 26 September 2000 as our subject.

YEAR FACTOR
The year factor for 2000 is 5/6. Since we are calculating for the month of September, we will use factor 6.

MONTH
Now, september... let's run through months.

Months... 1, 2, 3, 4....

... 5, 6, 7....

... 8, 9! Stop Here!

DAY
So, now your thumb should be on digit 6. Now, add the year factor into the picture. That's a factor of 6 remember? To do this, just move forward 6 digits.

1st step. Thumb moves to digit 7. 2nd step, thumb on digit 1 ... and so on until your thumb lands on digit 5.

What this represents is... in the year 2000, September (That's 1 Sep) starts on a Friday (digit 5). Therefore, 8 Sep, 15 Sep and 22 Sep also falls on Fridays. So, count from 22 Sep Friday to 26 Sep. Which is a TUESDAY!
