My
name is Karin Forsberg, I am Book- and Paper Conservator, and I live
in Varese, in northern Italy since 2001.
I was trained as
a Conservator at the Istituto per l´Arte e il Restauro "Palazzo Spinelli"
in Florence, Italy, between 1989 and 1991. Since then I have worked in
the conservation departments of several institutions in Sweden during
the last ten years, such as: The National Archives, The Military Archives,
The Regional Archives of Lund ecc.
I have also worked on a free-lance-basis
In my work I deal with
any object made of paper: maps, prints, paintings, drawings and posters,
but also with bookbinding and book-related materials: parchment, leather,
wood, seals ecc.
I also have extensive experience in computer-based conservation
surveys and condition reports.
Furthermore I have always tried to extend my knowledge and improve
my techniques by attending classes and workshops; for example the manufacture
of paper, japanese conservation techniques, iron-gall ink-corrosion etc.
