How He gets into the show business
Because of his optimistic and
easy going personality, Jacky
Cheung worked for The Hong Kong
Trade Development Council and
Cathay Pacific Airways after his
Form 7 graduation. For leisure
and pleasure, he enjoys hiking,
playing basketball, swimming,
and his favourite of all -
singing.When he was younger, he
liked to sing along with the
pre-recorded music. During high
school years, he used to sing in
a band with friends and entered
singing contests held by school.
In 1984, he entered the 18
districts Amateur Singing
contest,competed with more than
10 thousand contestants and won
first prize by singing the song
"Fatherland". Polygram
Records Ltd.was very impressed
with Jacky's talent, and decided
to sign a contract with him, and
groomed him to become a star.
His Journey To The Summit
Through these 14 years, Cheung has gone through various hardships.
His career went into a bust in 1987 to 1989 period. His albums sold less than ten thousand in Hongkong. However, PolyGram HK still keeps him and assign him the best producer, Mr Michael Au, to go thruogh the hardships with him.
Mr Michael Au chooses songs for Jacky with extreme care; Finally, in 1991, a Japanese-translated song, Love You a Bit more Daily, pushed Cheung to his summit. The album is one of the best-selling albums ever in HK history.
From then on, he has became a superstar. In 1992, together with Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai, they have been crowned the HK 4 Heavenly Kings by the media.
