THE COMPANY
In July 1996, Unisys of South Africa and the members of the mining division of that company formed the wholly independent company Mineware Consulting (Pty) Limited.
This Company took over the business of the former mining division of Unisys South Africa, along with the product CPM. The mining division of Unisys was established back in 1988 and proceeded to develop innovative solutions in the field of mining production monitoring and control.
Since its inception, Mineware has invested in a total re-development of the CPM product to produce CPMgold and has developed the all-new CPMcoal for the international coal market. In addition, it has undertaken software development projects for a variety of associated businesses.
The company has recognised the need for high quality, customised training for its products and development of the correct attitude towards the use of its systems. To this end, the Company has developed various specific courses that now enjoy popularity in the industry.
Mineware's strengths lie in its intimate knowledge of the mining industry coupled with its total dedication to client service and satisfaction. This fact is underlined by our marketing strategy whereby all new prospects are exposed to our client sites. We at Mineware know that our clients are our best salesmen.

The client base includes mines in Gold Fields Limited, J.C.I.,
Avgold and Gold Fields Mining and Development and Amcoal.

RESULTS
During the first 6 months of operations in 1996, the company concentrated on continuing the roll out of the system to the existing customer base. Revenue per head for this period amounted to some R300,000 per annum.
In the following year (1997), development began on the new systems CPMcoal and CPMgold. During this time, revenue dropped and a portion of the financial reserves built up in the previous year were used to fund the new system's development. Revenue per head amounted to some R160,000 per annum.
In 1998, marketing of the new systems began to show returns and 5 mines invested in the new system in the first 7 months. This activity and various other new ventures have produced revenue per head of R320,000 for the year. This has effectively replaced the cash drop in 1997 and all further development of the systems will increase the bottom line directly.
In the coming year, revenue per head should conservatively exceed R355,000 from currently developed business.
Costs have been retained at 1996 levels despite salary increases across the board by prudent reduction of overheads and wastage.
FUTURE POLICY
The Company has begun to expand its activities beyond being purveyors of CPM. It is actively pursuing consulting in related markets and through acquisitions and development will be expanding into unrelated markets that require the services of competent reliable system creators.
To date the new market activities have proved to be very lucrative and will
continue to be actively pursued in the future.
