Message from the Chairman of ISB 

Ipoh Symphonic Band ( ISB ) is newly founded in Ipoh. After having some teething problems, the band has been established on June 13,1999. It would be appropriate, as a prelude, to recall the humble beginning of the ISB leading to this auspicious day. In the beginning stage, it was called by few former school band members. They actively participated in their respective school bands during their school days.

The musical experience is not easily forgotten after leaving school. It encourages us to continue wooing the more challenging levels of musical attainment. The creation of this community band, will provide the opportunities for the former students and music lovers to enjoy playing symphonic music. This will also directly bring up the musically vibrant people in Perak State.

At the moment, the band has 55 part time members. It boasts of students and working class people within the age group of 14-69 from Ipoh and the northern region of Malaysia.

Currently, Ipoh Symphonic Band (ISB) is under the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO)“Encounter and Out reach education program”.Through this education program. Mr Joost Christiaan Flach is our conductor and band music consultant.

It is our fervent hope that with the launching of this IPOH SYMPHONIC BAND, other musical groups may take root in Ipoh and other parts of this Silver State.
