ABOUT YOUR WEB MASTER
My name is Lyndsay Niven and i have played with Dalmellington band since i was 16 (i am now 22).I started playing at the age of 11 on the cornet, under the instruction of Hugh Johnstone at Mauchline Primary school. I stayed on bottom third cornet for about 3 years due to a complete lack of interest in brass bands! Then i decided to move to the Tenor Horn and never looked back! At Auchinleck Academy i was tutored by Stephen Reid who encouraged me to go along to the Dalmellington Band.I came into the band on 2nd Horn and my first contest was the First section Scottish Championships which the band won with the piece "Forest Of Dean". From then on i was hooked. After that contest i moved to 1st horn then onto Principal Euphonium (which was the most miserable year of my life!). Eventually i moved to the Solo horn seat which i hope to retain until such times as they kick me out!
I am currently a full time student. I recently completed a MA in Music and Archaeology at Glasgow University and i will be graduating in the summer. At the moment i am doing a computing course at college which explains all this! As i am new to all this i would appreciate any help so feel free to email me with your comments.
