About me (not too much to bore you…)
Some interesting places on the web
I am a native of Ross, Ohio, which is a small rural community north of Cincinnati. I currently live in Milford, east of the city, where my wife Stephanie and I bought a house last summer.
Stephanie and I met while we were Music Education Majors at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. We try to keep this secret, but we actually met in the marching band, which is even funnier considering that my wife is a cellist. But alas, I suppose we were fated to be together.
After graduating in December of 1998, I began teaching in the Princeton City School District here in Cincy as a long-term substitute in elementary general music. I then worked as another long-term general music sub in the Fairfield City School District in the fall of ’99.
In January of 2000, I returned back to Princeton and began actually teaching in my field: instrumental music. For the past year and a half, I taught band at Princeton Junior High and High School. For the next two years I will be pursuing my Master's Degree in Wind Conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a full time student, studying with Professor Rodney Winther. I'm looking forward to this new opportunity in my career.
Other than music I am interested in tooling around with computers, working on my house (but don’t let my wife know that), and reading. I try to find opportunities to allow me to keep playing my trombone, which includes performing with the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra, a community group in Clermont County, Ohio. I’m really not as boring as all that sounds, but I do enjoy being as laid back as possible at all times.
While I was at Miami, besides my
instrumental studies I was a member of the Men’s Glee Club,
which was a fabulous ensemble and a great way to train my ear.
I am an alumnus of the Alpha Theta Chapter
of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia,
a professional men’s music fraternity.
I spent my summers touring the country
with the Madison
Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps, a world-class drum and bugle corps from
Madison, Wisconsin. The experiences I
had there will be with me a lifetime.
More to come here….
