Did you already go to the sea? There's no rainy season like monsoon in Hokkaido not as the other parts of Japan. It's becoming hotter these days but not humid. Hokkaido people are happy to enjoy this nice season!
Report of the 51st meeting;
Today's Guests;
Ms. Ota and Mr. Nasseer.
Opening thought: by TM Wu
Can you guess which country is the most important in trade
of Japan? In the amount, America is the biggest and second is China.
Japan is the biggest trade partner to China.
Today's word: by Guest Ms. Ohta
abbreviate; This is a verb, to make a word shorter.
"abbreviated" is the adjective and "abbreviation" is the noun.
Table Topic session: by TM Ando
We had the Debate Game; we choose the everyone's role by lot. Affirmative person choose
the topic of the debate. Both the affirmative and negative insisted his/her opinion and the
judge made a decision.
Which side you think win this following debate?
1. Do you welcome a new system that you can order books on Internet and get them at
convenience stores?
Affirm.: You can save the amount of cash. You don't have to look for at the bookstore.
Negative: You don't see the details of the books. You are missing the opportunity to look the
diversity and subjects of books. When you search the title and it's not available at the
nearest bookstore, you can get it in 3 or 4 days by express mail.!
2. Do you support a system that a husband and his wife keep their own family names?
Affirm.: In case of disaster, if we cannot find our family, the family name plays an important
role. By using this unique name, we can find our family easily.
Negative: Some people like own family name and don't want to change after getting
married. She's using her ex-name in the office and no confusion between the co-workers.
TM Kouno proposed this topic. In the TV news program she saw a surprising feature: some university students are wearing school uniforms like high school students and teachers are checking their wears and hair styles at the gate every morning. This is because their students are seemed to be childish, i.e. they cannot hear silently that the teacher speaks at the class, some of them are drinking beverages, chatting with their friends and even making a cellular phone call. Q; How do you think the situation like this and why this kind of situation happened? TM Osaki said that students are already identified themselves, so it's not necessary to check the outlook. If they treated as adult, it's strange to check the outlook. Let the University does as they like. TM Ando sometimes feels disgusted at the uncomfortable manners of the students at the public transportation. "It's a waste of money and time, they should work." Guest Ms. Ohta was embarrassed and surprised by this fact, because they are about her son's and daughter's age. Probably they don't study how to behave, how to live in the sense of moral other than study for the examination. In Japan, parents are too busy and cannot take time for educating children and teach morals. The other problem is; in university, entrance examination is very too hard, but graduation from the university is relatively easy. Guest Mr. Naseer gave a question; "What are your duties to the societies?". Because of the development of the electronic media, all of his mind this particular background remains. We should present some constructive programs to improve the situation.
TM Kai gave his second speech; "Paintings". One of his hobby is paintings; his favorite things to play when he was a child. He brought two paintings. One of them is "Man with a mask". The man is opening his eyes as if he were amazed at something. It expresses his feelings when he's making. To him paintings is the one way to reduce stresses of daily life. When he got stressed and lose his consciousness, he starts this without paying attention to the surroundings. He concentrates on his work for about 8 hours. Painting are used in therapeutic manners, too. To express one's feelings in sickness.
TM Sato played his ice breaking speech; "How to make friends". He was doing trade business and traveled lots of countries, he brought nice photos of Asian countries. His key is to travel all over the world like a back packer. If you stay in cheap inn or dormitory, you can meet lots of people, sharing foods, having chats, ...etc. Most of them are travelling alone, so it's very easy to ask to have a dinner together. That kind of accommodation is managed by the family. Other good aspect is getting to know local people. It's very good to face to face with them. People are very friendly. You may enjoy the festivals. Transportation is also important to meet with people. It's lots of fun to ride in a second class train. All the members enjoyed his speech, "Oops", we're running out of time.
