Report of the 56th meeting;
His panacea is drinking. Usually he drinks alone with listening to the music, reading a book, ..etc. Liquor be the lubrication oil among people. Do you have your paneces? Physical exercises, meditation, listening to music, arts, ...whatsoever.
In Japan, at schools the break down in discipline is happening. Especially in elementary school, teachers cannot handle the children. Children cannot stay on their desks and cannot hear what the teacher is saying at the class. This situation became popular in the last couple of years. We discussed what are the couses of its problems and countermeasures to improve the situation.
TM Kouno said it's the problem of parents. as both parents are working and coming back late at night to home, parents never scold their children.
TM Kai pointed that children are not able to communicate well with peers. So they don't know what to do at school.
All toastmasters iamgined who should be blamed. Because of the parents? Teachers? Mass media? Parents cannot take disciplinary action themselves. Teachers has to have a dignity like before.
It's really a controversial issue in Japan. Do you have any good ideas?
We have a dream every night. Human's dream consists of two sleeps; one is REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and the other is NON-REM sleep. In REM sleep, the sleep is shallow and easy to get up. We dream in this periods.
Questions to talk about;
Q1; Do you see a dream every night?
Q2; You like dreaming?
Q3; If you had a bad dream, how do you feel and what you do?
Q4; If your night dream was a good one and it describes the ideal situation for you, do you make efforts to achieve it?
TM Uraguchi went to Europe for two months. It was a training course for public servant in Hokkaido. He is studying about the parasite of fox. At first he visited the southwest Germany whose climate is similar to eastern Hokkaido. He said he could understand the English 70%. But he reached to London, he couldn't unserstand at all. It was not so clear to him.
He looked the situation of urban foxes of London and Oxford. Increase of foxes in urban areas is becoming a serious problem in the world. It was first found in southern England. Also Sapporo and New York have urban foxes. It's relatively a new phenomenon.
In Britain, many people feed wild animals. They love the animals and taming. Those animal lovers are called "fluffy bunny hugger" there. It's an impressive word for him.
TM Konishi visited Massachusetts. As she introduced at the 53rd meeting, she is a volunteer of the Pacific Music Festival (PMF) that main activities were held at Sapporo. This time, she focused the point how the Tanglewood Music Festival is managed.
Tanglewood Music Festivalis one of the model of PMF. Tanglewood Area is 50 times large as Sapporo Art Part whare most of the PMF conserts are held. It's managed by 300 volunteers mostly elderly pepople; supported by the senior power! PMF has 60 volunteers most of them are housewives and some students. Surprized her was that Tanglewood is getting lots of donations from indivisuals.
There're two concerts she attended this trip. One is conducted by four popular conductors and there's a firework after the concert. The other didn't give good impression on her since it was cold by the rain. In spite of the tight schedule, she got lots of good memories.
