-> Preparing a presentation to a local Rotary Club, I am looking for the
-> funniest or the strangest things that might have happened to you
-> since you started running your BBS.
The craziest thing happened to me this morning that I have had happen in
a long time. About 5 days ago we upgraded from the 2 mbit Lantastic
to the 10 mbit Ethernet Lantastic, and it turned out that the Lantastic
software is not compatible with some CD ROM's. The result was
that the CD server was crashing almost every hour for several days.
We went several sleepless nights, being awakened every hour or so by a
"BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BEEP", where the
BLEEPS are from the network and the BEEPS from fatal.
We thought we had it fixed last night by changing CD ROM drive
manufacturers, so I was very disappointed to be awakened by a
series fo BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BEEP sequences early this morning.
However when I reached the computer room, everything was working fine.
Confused, I returned to the bedroom and heard the BLEEPS and BEEPS again.
After several trips between the two rooms I finally found a D$*@&
mockingbird was outside the window, repeating what he had apparently
been hearing for the last few days. It didn't bother me
when he used to sing, but now that he sounds like a blasted crashed
network, I may have to shoot him or something!
