Both Fred Romero and his wife, Yermen, have studied tango under most of the prominent tango masters in Buenos Aires and the USA, particularly Carlos Gavito and Nito and Elba. Tango salon style is Fred's preference. Fred's appearances include dancing under the Picasso, dancing at Symphony Hall and dancing at the State of Illinois building for Hispanic Heritage month.
Fred on teaching: My philosophy is simple: make learning the tango a fun experience, but at the same time, teach the students to respect the tango. I stress the basics such as walking and posture as oppossed to teaching just a lot of patterns. I take my students through a natural progression from simple salidas to more complicated figures.
