Server Applications
So much of what makes an automation effort successful
happens behind the scenes (on the server). Server-side code processes data at night, makes
web
applications work, listens for requests, alerts administrators, and numerous
other functions.
Server-side code can range from small scripts to large
batch processing applications. They can be scheduled, kicked off
programmatically, or kicked off manually.
Real World
Applications
I can use server side code to:
- Make your website dynamic
- Process batch data such as accounts recievable
- Build nightly reports
- Build a custom TCP/IP server
- Parse/send XML from/to other systems
- Scan accounts to send overdue notices with email
