Featuring Dalmellington Band and the RAF St Athans Band
Dalmellington Band are delighted to inform you of the St Athans Band who this Easter will travel to Ayrshire, the homeland of Robert Burns and the heart of Ayrshire Brass Banding, for a weekend of concerts and sightseeing. We are especially pleased to let you know about our joint concert in the Dalmellington Community Centre on Saturday 11th April, starting at 7:00pm, and hope that you will be able to come along and give a good old Dalmellington welcome to St Athans. As always, attached is a ticket booking form and contact details – price £4.00 or £2.50 (concession).
The concert will be part of the Homecoming Scotland 2009 initiative and so will especially feature some “weel kent” tunes that we are sure you will enjoy. An evening of great musical entertainment is promised as both Bands take stage individually and collectively to show off the best of their talents.
Like us, the St Athans Band has a along history. The RAF St Athans Voluntary Band was formed during 1938 and has been active in and around the Vale of Glamorgan and South Wales ever since. The band includes the St Athans Brass Band, the Corps of Drums and the RAF St Athans Training Band and the players are a mix of service personnel and civilians - young and old. They have a busy schedule of concerts, contest and ceremonial occasions all year round. Even when they’re on R & R on their weekend away they still like to entertain!
