Episode # 4
Discord and Explanations

So, new episode. The past two I picked up with David and Evelyn, because I have a storyline for them. But here I start out with Jude and Annie.

Jude and Annie are at home now. She has a towel, peroxide, and ice pack for his injuries.

ANNIE: This is going to sting.

JUDE: Not as much as this conversation.

ANNIE: Probably not.

JUDE: Did you sleep with my brother, Annie.

ANNIE: Do you think I'm capable of cheating on you?

JUDE: No, I don't.

ANNIE: Then we'll be okay. No, I didn't sleep with Cole. I almost did, but I kept thinking of you and that I was with you instead of him. We just started talking and ended up in the grotto and things just happened. But I couldn't go through with it. I know that isn't an excuse, but I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt you.

JUDE: I'm sorry.

ANNIE: You have nothing to be sorry about.

JUDE: Yes, I do. Um, the same thing happened with Caitlin and me. I almost slept with her.

ANNIE: But you didn't.

JUDE: I wanted it to be you. I'm sorry.

ANNIE: Don't do it again, and I won't either. I love you.

JUDE: I love you. More than anything, but this isn't over. What about the five million dollars?

ANNIE: I'm going to try and get it.

JUDE: Do you think I can't support you?

ANNIE: I know you can. Jude, you have a job that I am proud of, but it's also one I worry about. Gregory tried to kill you and when bad guys shoot, it's to kill. One day you might not come home. And if that ever happens I want to know that our child will be secure. I don't plan on spending any of that money unless I don't have you.

JUDE: That's why you want it?

ANNIE: That's the only reason.

JUDE: Then lets sue the hell out of Gregory.

ANNIE: Okay. Jude, can we not do this again? This conversation did sting.

JUDE: I don't want it to ever happen again. I love you, Annie.

ANNIE: I love you.

They hug and settle on the couch together.

JUDE: What time is it?

ANNIE: Four in the morning.

JUDE: It's been a long night.

ANNIE: Um, you left before I could tell you Aunt Bette wants us over to dinner tomorrow night. She's really into this whole family thing.

JUDE: What time?

ANNIE: Five.

JUDE: Okay, before that we can go house shopping.

ANNIE: House shopping?

JUDE: Mmm-hmm. We're having a family and we need a house.

ANNIE: Okay, but we also have our first doctors appointment at nine.

JUDE: Wow. A doctors appointment sets it in stone. This is going to be the best kid.

ANNIE: Really?

JUDE: Oh, yeah. For one thing the baby is going to be as sharp whited and cunning as you are. As smart as you are too.

ANNIE: Jude, I don't want people to know until after I'm divorced. Gregory had a pre-nup and I'm going in there with little experience, none actually, and I'm trying to get five million dollars of his. And as proud I am of this child, I also want to have the extra security.

JUDE: I understand. The court having knowledge that you made love to another man while married might hurt you--even though you thought Gregory was dead.

ANNIE: Thank you.

They sit back and relax for the rest of the night.

Cole walks into his and Caitlin's room. She looks at him.

COLE: Hi.

CAITLIN: Hi.

COLE: I have something I should tell you.

CAITLIN: What?

COLE: When I was out walking tonight I met up with Annie. We reached the grotto and I nearly slept with her.

CAITLIN: What? What stopped you?

COLE: She did. She couldn't gone through with it.

CAITLIN: So if she hadn't you would have done it.

COLE: Probably.

CAITLIN: Good, because I almost slept with Jude and had he been able to do it, we would have.

COLE: With my brother?

CAITLIN: And it would have been great.

COLE: Nice knowing you.

He leaves.

It's morning now, and Eddie is asleep on Bette's sofa. AJ finds him there.

AJ: Good morning.

EDDIE: Morning.

AJ: Nice to see you alive.

EDDIE: You don't sound like it.

Bette joins them.

BETTE: Eddie, behave. I forgot to tell you last night. We're having a little family get-together tonight for dinner. My daughter, Emily, our daughter Evelyn, um, who else, Cole, a few others. You're welcome to stay.

EDDIE: Thank you, Bette. I'm sure it will be interesting.

AJ: I have no doubt about that. Do you need your things washed?

EDDIE: No, I have a few more days worth of things. But thanks for asking. I'm sorry to put you two out.

AJ goes upstairs.

BETTE: That doesn't sound like the Eddie Connors I remember.

EDDIE: It does when I was around you. You bring out the best in people, Bette. And you were always one of my best friends. Or only friends to think of it. I missed you.

BETTE: Oh, Cheekbones, you've got a way about you that just makes me not want to hold you at fault for anything.

EDDIE: I'm happy you have someone. What is this, number eight?

BETTE: Yes, it is number eight. But he's also the last.

EDDIE: Something I couldn't be happier about hearing. Just wait until people in this town get a load of me alive and well.

BETTE: You might want to stay away from my favorite neighbor for a while. Let him enjoy his newlywed period.

EDDIE: He and Meg finally did it.

BETTE: Yes, and it was a lovely service.

EDDIE: I can't wait for yours. Just promise I'll be on the guest list.

BETTE: Absolutely. Anything for my favorite sleazy ex-cop. You hungry? I pour a mean bowl of cereal.

He smiles at her and they laugh.

Meg, Ben, Casey, Sara, Nick, Vanessa, Michael, and Gabi are sitting in the living room of Surf Central (Alex is out for a walk.) talking.

MEG: It's nice to have you here, Gabi. I was really starting to miss you during the reception.

GABI: I wasn't gone yet.

VANESSA: Yes, but we knew you would be.

GABI: I just couldn't go. I've been thinking about a lot of things lately though. It's helped, not being around so many people. I mean, this is nice, but some alone time is definitely what I needed. I starting thinking about all of the things that have been messed up in my life and then my thoughts went to Mark.

CASEY: I think about him this time of year.

MICHAEL: It's coming on two years.

MEG: I think we all miss him.

VANESSA: I know I do.

SARA: Who was Mark?

NICK: That was my question.

CASEY: Mark was a good friend of ours who died about two years ago.

NICK: Sorry. How did it happen?

BEN: Derek murdered him on the island.

SARA: Oh.

GABI: He missed out on a lot he wanted to do.

CASEY: He didn't have the means to.

VANESSA: You know what would be great? If there were a foundation in Mark's name that each year gave one underprivileged kid the chance to make all of their dreams come true. A scholarship type thing.

MICHAEL: That's a great idea, Scoop.

MEG: We should do it.

SARA: I like it. What if it were like a benefit dinner and ball.

NICK: You could charge for each plate and use the proceeds to pay for the scholarship. We did something similar in Kosovo for one village. We raised six hundred thousand dollars.

GABI: Really?

MEG: How much would we charge a plate?

BEN: Five hundred dollars. And I'll cover the rest for two years worth of tuition and the cost of the entire ball. As long as I have a say in who the recipient is.

GABI: Are you serious?

BEN: Yes. Let's get this thing planned. What do you think? Give us a month of planning and choosing a kid?

CASEY: Let's get to it.

GABI: Go to Antonio and ask him to recommend a kid who he feels deserves it. A kid from the out reach program. That should take us down to two weeks of planning.

MICHAEL: I have to go see him about that program today, I'll ask him.

CASEY: How about everyone here who's helping with planning be here tomorrow at eleven we can talk to the kid and make more plans.

VANESSA: That's good for me.

They all agree on the plan.

Gregory is in his jail cell and looks up to see someone he doesn't expect to see.

GREGORY: What are you doing?

PERSON: I missed you. Not really.

GREGORY: I killed you.

FRANCESCA: You thought you killed me. See, the FBI has been investigating you for years. They've been hiding me for quite some time now. Now that you're in the slammer, I get to be free and on my way.

GREGORY: Aren't you lucky. What do you want, Francesca?

FRANCESCA: Not the pleasure of your company. Just the enjoyment of a concentration with the man who tried to kill me. That's it though, I think I'll go visit your sweet little, girl, Caitlin.

GREGORY: Stay away from her.

FRANCESCA: As if you could stop me. You'll be in prison until doomsday. And, when you're divorce is finalized you won't be in Sunset Beach anymore.

She smirks and leaves.

The door bell rings at Bette's house. Evelyn and Emily are the only ones home.

EVELYN: Can you get that, Emily?

EMILY: Sure.

She opens the door to find Sean and David.

SEAN: Hey, beautiful.

EMILY: Hi.

DAVID: Um, Evelyn told me stop by this morning.

EMILY: She's upstairs getting ready for something. She won't tell anyone.

DAVID: It's nothing. Do you think she'll mind if I go up?

EVELYN: No need. I'm here. How do I look?

SEAN: You look great.

EMILY: Beautiful.

EVELYN: David? What do you think? How do you think I'll do?

DAVID: You'll knock their socks off.

EVELYN: You think?

DAVID: There is no possible way you couldn't. Good luck.

EVELYN: Thanks. I'm running late though.

DAVID: Do you need a ride?

EVELYN: No thanks.

She hugs him and kisses his cheek.

EVELYN: Thanks. I'll see you later tonight?

DAVID: Absolutely, I want to know how it went.

She leaves.

EMILY: David, what's going on?

SEAN: Yeah, that was a little weird.

DAVID: I'm sworn to secrecy. You'll never get it out of me.

EMILY: Sure I will. Hey, do you want to go to the Shockwave for breakfast with us?

SEAN: Yeah, it's a nice, relaxing day.

DAVID: Third wheel isn't my idea of fun.

Leo walks in.

EMILY: Leo, how about breakfast with the three of us?

LEO: Sure.

SEAN: Problem solved.

DAVID: Okay.

They walk out the door and run into Amy and Brad walking on the sidewalk.

SEAN: What do you two want?

BRAD: Back off, Richards, we're taking a walk. It isn't a crime.

EMILY: Where could you possibly be going that would require you to walk past my front door?

AMY: Listen, Emily. I am dealing with that fact I'll end up being miserable for the rest of my life and I am finally trying to move on. I can't do that if you guys attack me everywhere I go!

BRAD: Hi, Leo. When did you get back?

LEO: Hey, Brad. I couple of days ago. Seems like I missed a lot.

BRAD: You can say that again. Who are you?

He saw David.

SEAN: This is my brother, David. And we have to go now.

DAVID: Who are you?

AMY: I'm Amy and this is Brad.

DAVID: Oh, that explains a lot of this conversation. I guess we are going now then.

They leave.

AMY: You make a few mistakes and you're marked for life.

BRAD: You kind of brought it on yourself, Amy. I'm going to try and apologize to Emily again though.

AMY: Good luck, Brad.

BRAD: Thanks, Amy.
