David Bice's carbon fiber endpin set is amazing!
Hello all - normally it's pretty rare for me to praise a product here on the board, but I am simply in awe of David Bice's endpin set and think any of you who are considering the Harmonie or another type should consider his very highly. My story goes like this - I had one of the very first carbon fiber endpin sets (bought about 10 years ago) and I don't even know the make. I was able to purchase from a wholesaler and since these were so new to the market, nobody was really interested and they were quite expensive. I tried one and loved the sound difference due to the lighter weight and faster rate of vibration transfer through the less dense material.

The tip was made of aluminum for even more weight management, but that's a stupid metal to use because it is so soft. Needless to say I had to sharpen it about every 3 months and eventually, like a pencil, there was nothing left to sharpen. I contacted David Bice of New Harmony Music based on recommendations from this board and discussed how I could purchase a tip from him. The tip arrived and it is really a massive, massive sharp hardened steel tip, the kind that appears to have no problem sticking into a solid marble floor with little effort. (I had fun showing my fellow cellists and bassists in the LA Mozart Orchestra the new MegaTip - all were duly impressed, but I didn't notice an increase in pay for that check or anything...:-) Unfortunately, the length of this massive tip was too much for my cello and the scroll was now hitting the top of the case, as well as the endpin resting right on the bottom - not too safe. I communicated with David and had to purchase the endpin plug too, which is of his own design. When I received it today, I was so impressed with the beauty and functionality of this endpin plug that I had to come on the board and sing its praises. It's easily the most beautiful plug I have seen and deserving of being installed on the finest of cellos everywhere.

All in all, his endpin set is the best I've seen, and to top it off, he is a wonderful person who is easy to talk to and of the utmost professionalism - a true friend to the cello consumer. His website (www.newharmonymusic.com/accessories.htm ) has the photos (which he didn't have when I ordered :-) and you can order directly from him.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info Todd. The URL link you put in the post has a bracket on the end of it that gives an error when you try to access it. If you edit that out it will work fine.
