of CA unite!
Sorry, I'll step off my soapbox
now.
Hey, anyone in CA (particularly Southern CA)! I'm
thinking about organinzing a get together somewhere in S. CA like
between LA and San Diego (ummmm...Ivine?).
It would be neat!
We could have a day of activities like mini concerts, ensemble
readings, videos, etc. Just a great way to get to meet each
other.
Of course anyone else in ICS who might be in the area
around the time would be more than welcome to attend.
It
would be sort of a S. CAL chapter of ICS.
What do y'all
think?

If you can organize it in the next
few weeks then count me in, otherwise I won't be here. Btw,
Oceanside is much nicer, or maybe Carlsbad. Of course, there's
always San Onofre.  It's *always*
beautiful there. (heh heh)

Carlsbad? Oceanside?
Does anyone have a REALLY BIG house
we can trash....er...visit or use? Or even a not so big house with
enough room to fit us and our celli?
Let's keep
brainstorming...maybe it will become the "Pacific Cello Congress" or
something wacky like that.
OK....here's the bait....we'll
have an unlimited supply of Krispy Kremes!!!! For physical
nurishment.
We'll have SUMO wresting (in the big suits) for
those who want to take out their cello chat aggressions upon
eachother physically (yet harmlessly!)
What
else?
Actually, this is still a serious idea (the meeting) we
need more people who are interested to ring in!

people, we know you're out there!

If you want to get more central to
all of California, I have a big house with a big living room (17x
24) and an even larger carpeted basement here in Fresno.

and you may even get a New Yorker to come
I am
visiting LA and Santa Barbara in that period.
If the UCSB campus
(where I am staying) will allow me
to practice I am even
considering renting a cello
for one
week.

Well, my cello teacher (if he's
reading this) might kill me, but I was thinking we might be able to
use his house, at least for the performing/cello end of it (I don't
think we could all stay over there, but I know plenty of people in
the vicinity who would be happy to host us/overfeed us). The donut
idea sounds promising; let's run with it.
Maybe we should aim
for something around Thanksgiving, just so we could actually
organize this and give people enough notice.
Were you
thinking about an informal kind of "chamber music party" atmosphere
or something more lecture-y/masterclass-ey? Structured practice or
24-hour open bar/sight reading bonanza (my personal
favorite)?
I am starting to get excited...
To Nico: I
have a friend in SB who is a cellist...she is very sweet, has a
sister who goes to UCSB, and I am sure would be very happy to let
you use her cello and living room (I did just that over spring
break) to practice.

This is really exiting! I live in
San Diego and I've been looking for a cello society/group/org. in S.
CA for a while now. I've been playing the piano for a long time but
I'm a complete newbie at cello 
(I've only been playing for a couple of weeks). I would still
like to attend and sit in if you don't mind newbies.  (hmmm...
well.... I'll be out of town from August 18th-Sept 21st... 
)
BTW: I'm still looking for a good cello teacher in the
area. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.
