Music
school database
I am developing a database of
universities & colleges, US and international, that offer a
music performance major and/or a BM degree. Let me know where you go
to school, and send/post a link to the school's website, and I'll
include it.
For now, it's mainly for undergrad use. But I'll
be adding grad info once this is up and running.
I'd like to
think I know them all (yeah, right) but there are WAY too
many...

The current Strings magazine has the
annual list. It's huge - email addresses and everything. That might
keep you busy, Laura, if you're looking for something to do.

Hoowee! Did you see the prices for
some of those schools? Very scary indeed. I"m gonna have to get a
scholarship. But the magazine was very interesting, it had faculty
and everything.

Most private schools will cost you
more than public schools as a rule. If you want to find a tuition
bargain, public state schools are a great option. Sometimes
out-of-state tuition for a public state school is less than tuition
for the private school down the street.
Check out some of the
major scholarship searches available on the Internet. I've bagged a
few this way and best of all, the searches are Free. (My favorite
price.)

is a great place to start. Don't forget about the scholarship
auditions most music programs offer!

But don't forget, most private
schools have very good financial aid. Lawrence *ahem* has one of the
best financial aid programs around. It's always worth applying if
you really like it, and see what the package they give you is
like.
