To anyone who wants to
answer:
1. How much do you practice a
day(estimate)?
2. Do you practice more/less/same during the
school year?
3. Do you think you want to major in music in
college?
4. Other than the obvious(GET OFF THE COMPUTER), how
do you balance school and cello?

Re:

hello!!!!
here are my
answers
1. Right now, i practise about 4 hours a day...it
depends if i have to work or not. I dont practise for long periods
of time, cause my wrists tend to go out after playing really hard
for about an hour
2. I barely practise at home during
school...but remember that on mondays for example. I have a 1 1/2
hour class...then i go home and practise for an hour...then i got to
orchestra for 3 hours....so basically i still play the cello alot,
but just not alone
3. No, i will NOT major in music in
university (i live in canada, college is for dumbasses here) umm
basically, a degree gets u no where in canada. You have to be like
yo yo ma to get a really good job here..unless i lived in europe,
where they get government funding...there is no way that i will
major in music
4. How do i balance school and cello?? haha i
think the question for me is how do i balance, a job, school, cello,
two orchestras, cello lessons, and track practise every day........i
dont know...i just do it. Hurrah for 16 hour
days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my
answers
1. Pretty much 4 hours a
day
2. I'm really really going to try and do 4 hours this
year, but I probably won't be able to do it. I always try to give
myself enough break time so I don't hurt myself, which means it
takes me 6 hours to practice 4.
3. I'm definitely going to go
into music, which makes school SOOOOOOOO frustruating. Everything
that I have to do for school isn't even looked at by music schools.
Argh! I am going to miss having all this time to practice once
school starts. Boo hoo!
4. I was hoping that there was some
unknown secret out there. Oh well, I guess I won't sleep.

Re: my
answers
it's nice to know that i'm not the
only one who hates school! 1) during summer or other breaks,
anywhere from 3-6 hours a day. during school, at least 2 hours, and
i practically have to fight for more than that. 2) well, this
year i might get in the youth symphony, which would give me a great
excuse to leave my homework, as school orchestra, well, lets just
say they don't practise. 3) yes, definately. i wish that i could
get into someplace like interlochen... an aquaintance of mine was
accepted this year, so it got me thinking. anyone have any advice on
this, feel free to share! 4) i don't, honestly. if i don't feel
like doing homework, i put it away until i have practised enough
(enough, ha!). and if school in neglected, well, i'll live!
