The St. Bernard's Waltz
May 25 and June 1, 1999
Couples in ballroom hold, men back to the centre.
Men start with the left foot, women with right foot.
Bars
1-4 Step left foot close right foot, step left foot close right foot, step left foot close right foot with a light stamp, and lightly stamp left foot. ( Side, side, side, stamp, stamp).
5-8 Step right foot, close left foot, step right foot, close left foot without weight, step back left foot, step back right foot.( Towards centre).
9-12 Step forward left foot, step forward right foot, (towards wall) lady turns under the man's left hand.
13-16 Waltz round, ready to begin again.
The Gay Gordons
June 1 and June 22, 1999
In couples facing line of dance. Allemande hold, i.e. man holds partner's right hand with his right hand behind her right shoulder and holds her left hand in his left hand about waist level. Begin with outside foot.
Bars
1-4 Walk forward 4 steps, turning on the fourth. Keeping hand in allemande position (But now left arm is high and right arm is low), walk backwards for 4 steps in line of dance.
5-8 4 steps forward against line of dance, turning on 4, and 4 steps backwards.
9-12 Face partner taking right hand, man walk forward in line of dance turning partner under right arm.
13-16 Ballroom hold, polka round and open out ready to begin again.
THE DASHING WHITE SERGEANT
June 8 and June 22,1999
Danced around the room in groups of three, each facing another group
Bars
1-8 Six hands round to the left and back again
9-16 Man or lady in centre sets to & turns person on their right
Then sets to and turns the person on their left
17-24 Reels of three, the person in the centre giving left shoulder to the one on their right
25-32 Joining hands, advance & retire .Then pass through the opposite three, right shoulder, to meet next three.
The Military Two Step
June 29, 1999
In couples facing line of dance, nearer hands joined.
Start with outside foot.
Bar
1-4 Place foot forward on heel then reach back and place same foot on toe, 4 walks forward changing hands and turning to face opposite direction on 4.
5-8 Repeat in opposite direction, i.e. against line of dance.
9-10 Face partner with both hands joined., set with 2 pas de basque (man starts with left foot).
11-12 Man turns partner under right arm.
13-16 Ballroom hold, quick waltz or two step turning round and progressing round room, open out ready to begin again.
CANADIAN BARN DANCE
May 25 and June 15, 1999
In couples, facing line of dance, nearer hands joined. Start with outside foot.
Bars
1-4 Move forward with three runs and a hop. Repeat moving backwards.
5-8 Move to side away from partner with same step and clap on the hop. Move back to partner and join up with ballroom hold.
9-12 3 runs and a hop in line of dance. 3 runs and a hop against line of dance. (Side together side hop)
13-16 Turning and progressing round the room with step hop open out ready to begin again.
This may be danced progressively, i.e. after moving away from partner and clapping, instead of moving back to partner, the man moves diagonally forward and at the same time the woman moves diagonally back to meet a new partner with ballroom hold and continue.
