Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria. A child prodigy, he travelled extensively in his early youth, settling in Vienna from the age of 25, where he died a pauper. Strongly influenced by Haydn, his music marks the height of Classical age in its purity and melody and form. His large output includes operas such as The Mariage of Figaro 1786, Don Giovanni 1787, The Magic Flute 1791, nearly 50 symphonies, chamber and keyboard music. His last work was his Requiem.
