Alexander Vladiguerov



Alexander Vladiguerov (1939-1993), son of Pancho Vladiguerov, studied piano and composition first with Parashkev Hadjiev and with his father. He also studied conducting with Vladi Simeonov. In 1960-1961 he specialized conducting in Kiev (Ukraine - at that time the former USSR) with Nathan Rahlin. Back home, he worked as a conductor in Plovdiv, Pleven and Rousse, and later, in the National Radio in Sofia. He visited many countries as a conductor, including Japan, Sweden, etc.
Besides being a prolific composer, Mr. A. Vladiguerov was also a very god jazz pianist, particularly known for his fine performances of Gershwin.
His compositions include: Piano Toccatta (1955), the musicals The Red Hat (1968), The Happy Musicians (1971), The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats (1973), Romantic Poem for violoncello and Piano, Youth March, Rondo Concertante for Violin and orchestra, Rumanian dance, Prelude and Song, and many others.
