Peter Stoupel



Peter Stoupel (1923-1997) was born in Bulgaria by Jewish refugees from Lithuania, who perished in the Holocaust. He studied in the Bulgarian Music Academy (Conservatory), and after graduation specialized composition in Hungary, in the Budapest Music Academy with Leo Weiner and Pal Kados.
Having returned home, Stoupel built a remarkable music career, having the positions of deputy director, Bulgarian national television, director of the "Sofia Music Weeks" annual festival, and director, state recording firm "Balkanton."
Peter Stoupel's large volume of important compositions consists of tens of songs, 6 children oratories (for children's choir and orchestra), two ballets, and lots of theatrical and movie scores. Many of his songs and melodies have become extremely popular, one of them is the melody for a children's television show, which is being performed every evening for the last 35 years.
Stoupel has also worked on different foreign music projects in Japan, Germany, United Kingdom and Russia.
