Mediterranean Song Festival (IAMSF)

The 2nd International Alexandria Mediterranean Song Festival (IAMSF) is going to be organized from July 8th to July 12th at the Alexandria Opera House and the Historic Kait-Bay Citadel where Cleopatra and Marc Anthony lived.

The Festival will be under the auspices of his Excellency Dr. Farouk Hosny, the minister of culture and his Excellency the Governor General of Alexandria and of course under the umbrella of The International Federation Of Festival Organizers FIDOF. The GALA opening at the Alexandria Opera House will pay honorary tribute to the following stars for their contribution to strengthening peace through music and art around the world:

1) Latifa (Tunisia)

2) George Mustaki (France)

3) Marinella (Greece)

4) Wadi Safi (Lebanon)

5) Safwan (Syria)

6) Manar Abouheif (Egypt)

7) Pepino Dicapri (Citadel)

 

Conditions

 

1- Composers, interpreters and arrangers can participate in this festival.

2- Age of the interpreter must not be less than 18 years old.

3- Participation in the festival is open for 3 consecutive years maximum, unless the competitors have won a prize during the period of 3 years of participation.

4- The song must not be longer than four minutes.

5- The application form filled and singed by interpreters, composers and arrangers.

6-The registration fees (Which are non refundable) are as follows:

1500 Egyptian pounds (EGP) or $220 USD. Payment of the registration fees can be received by any of the following methods :

a) Cash

b) A money transfer order to :

7- The song lyrics and music must be original and unedited and has never been transmitted in any festival in any country all over the world .

8- Participation in this festival will be taken into consideration upon receipt of the following :

A- The registration fees which are non refundable.

B- Three copies of lyrics accompanied with translation into English, French or Spanish.

C- Three copies of the piano part, orchestra scores.

D- A recording of the song on CD with voice of the chosen interpreter with either piano or guitars and drums.

E- Six recent colored photos of the composer, the interpreter and the arranger as well as their biography.

F- One copy of the application form completed as indicated and signed.

G- Nationality of the participant and a copy of his passport.

H- The deadline for receiving the material is June 20 - 2004.

 

9- For the selected songs the festival is to receive two copies of CD's before 1st of July 2004. A copy with the music accompanied by the interpreter's voice and the other, half play back (-1) as the interpreter will perform half play back in front of the Jury.

 

10- The winners of the grand prix and first three prizes will perform half play back on stage in the closing ceremony of the festival, which will be aired by satellite.

 

11- The Jury committee has the right to veil or divide any of the prizes.

 

12- The festival has the exclusive rights to publish edit and exploit the selected songs on radio television, cassette, or any other media according to the rules of the S.A.C.E.M (Paris) without territorial limitations.

 

13- For non Egyptian selected songs the festival offer the following to the interpreter only:

A- Air ticket on economy class from the nearest location where Egypt air operates.

B- Accommodation on bed and breakfast basis in a hotel not less than three stars (two days before the festival, the festival period and one day after).

 

14- Non selected songs are non refundable.
