Infiniti Q45

The flagship of the Infiniti line debuted in 1989, following a revolutionary advertising campaign featuring scenes of rocks, trees, and water\emdash but no cars. That original Q45 was noteworthy because it went against the tide in its market segment. While the car was sporty and performance-oriented, it boasted the amenities of imported luxury-class vehicles. As time went on and sales lagged, the Q45 became more like its competitors. This second generation of the Q45, introduced in 1997, is based on the Asian-marketed Nissan Cima, and while its 4.1-liter engine is smaller than its predecessor's, the new Q is lighter and equals the previous model's performance. The Infiniti Q45 is now very much in the mainstream of imported luxury cars.

The 1998 Infiniti Q45 is available in two trims; Q45 and Q45t. Standard safety features include dual front and seat-mounted side airbags, an anti-lock brake system (ABS), side-impact protection and child safety locks. Powering the Q45 is a 4.1-liter DOHC V8 engine producing 266 horsepower. Standard features are abundant and include a power sunroof; power windows, door locks and mirrors; leather trim; 10-way power front seats; integrated fog lights; automatic climate control; and a keyless entry system. The Q45t adds a sport-tuned suspension, a rear spoiler, 5-spoke alloy wheels, heated front seats, and a trunk-mounted CD changer.
