Welcome to the S19 Website

What is Static 19?

Static 19 is the name of a project to bring the music of the Amarok Mailinglist members to the general public

Why is it called Static 19?

It's predecessor was called "Lost in Static 18". This was a long and ambitious project, which lead to the creation of "Mike Oldfield Tribute CD". However, the list members continued making beautiful music, which is now collected in a audio disc

Okay, What will be on it?

The tracklist has not been frozen yet, but I doubt that it will vary much. As you can see, Mike Oldfield wrote almost all tracks, but they are played by listmembers, often in new, challenging arrangements. Some tracks are even taken a step further and are written by the members but have that unique Oldfield sound that makes us all a fan.

What is that traffic jam doing here?

Static 19 will not end here, since the start of the project, so many members have contributed pieces that we already reached 2 full 74 minutes of audio disc, but the process continues. S19 will periodically release discs with this material so everyone can listen to this music in perfect quality, without hours of downloading mp3 files.

The first disc is called "between cars and chaos". Referring back to the fiercest debates that ever roared the dailies of Amarok.

Okay, now tease me !

All right :) some tracks can be found (in lesser quality) on the amarok website.
NEW teaser track is available !! this is a medley of several tracks which should give you an impression of S19 and what it will be like, download it now and hear what Mike’s comments were

Where and when can I get it?

Good question, drop me an email and I'll keep you notified. Originally it was scheduled to be released in January, but I prefer releasing a perfect disc later rather then an incomplete one now.

Latest news (21/03/00) : things are looking bright. Release might happen around May, but a lot of work is still to be done !
