Though Mike Balter and his company are best known for their Ensemble Series comprising of yarn mallets, from soft to staccato. These are used by many leading Percussion players. The handles in which are used  vary greatly depending on what type of stick it is. This is so as Satin Birch, Black Birch, Two-Stage Fiberglass and Genuine rattan are used. This is so as now the mallets handle, genuine rattan has been crafted with greater care making the handle much straighter. Overall they are mallets that are...welll......a stroke of perfection!!

The following is a write up on...         Black Swamp Percussion

Black Swamp mallets haven't in fact been on the international scene for very long at all, though have made a big name for themselves. This is due to the consistency of quality in which all products made by Black Swamp Percussion carry. This company have mostly become known due to their excellent Timpani mallets. They have a wide range of Timpani mallets, 7 models in fact. These mallets are extremely durable as they last for substantial amounts of time if cared for. The heads are in many of their models mushroom style, this giving a full sound with plenty of depth. They are made in extremely fascinating and time consuming ways. Recently Black Swamp have changed to a new type of bamboo which is machined smoothed and rounded eliminating mismatched diameters found in inferior sticks. The mallets have always been know to have a sound that is a clear tone and exceptional projection. This is due to the felt or wool in which they use. The wool is from Europe. Though unlike many others all heads are 100% wool and fully hand made. Though what is reassuring is that the bamboo supplied on their Timpani mallets is guaranteed for 1 year, adding a piece of mind. Though this company have also excelled in the are of orchestral snare drums. This is so as their snare drums are starting to be recognized as drums of extreme quality. There concert snare drums feature the patent-pending freer snare, solid brass tube lugs, a perfectly silent and smooth side-throw strainer, and your choice of three high-gloss lacquer finishes. This drum with all its fine extras produces a sound of great projection and a focused sound. The company with these drums also offer many upgrade options. The three choices of finish are cherry-rosewood, walnut and concert black. Auxiliary percussion has also been another area were this company has focused producing high quality castanets and tambourines.
Some of he finest timp sticks around. Soft to hard from right to left.
