Steinbrunn´s Tamburasi in Brasil

Across the country:

From Sao Paulo we flew to Foz do Iguacu, the famous waterfalls. Although we had only one day to spend there, it was wonderful. We were lodged in the Hotel San Martin and visited the falls by walking and riding in a rubber dinghy where we got totally wet. Some of us also took a helicopter ride and viewed the waterfalls from above. On Tuesday evening, August 25th, we arrived via airplane in Rio de Janeiro and stayed at the Hotel Atlantico which was located near the famous Copacabana Beach. Here we enjoyed a typical Brasilian meal call a Currasco. The next day we drove by bus to Itacurassao, where we transferred to a boat and sailed to one of many wonderful tropical islands. There we had time to go swimming before we were treated to a wonderful, big meal on the island. Our one hour boatride back to the harbour, and then back to Rio by bus, gave us a chance to see the picturesque countryside outside of Rio de Janeiro. On Wednesday the 26th we visited the famous Corcovado (Statue of Christ overlooking the harbor), the Sugar Loaf, and once again the Copacabana. After a quick shower in the hotel we left that evening for the airport and boarded our flight back to Vienna via Sao Paulo and Paris. Generally, all during our two week stay, we had very good weather. Although it is now winter in Brasil, the temperature was at least 30°C every day and it was nearly always sunny. Except for some trouble with our baggage – some of our cases arrived after our return to Vienna and our contrabass got broken during transport – this was one of the most wonderful holidays of my life.
