On April 20, 2001, The Derby City Tuba Quartet traveled to Fort Myer Virgina to compete in the 2001 North American Brass Band Competition. The group performed two movements of Three Milongas by Enrique Crespo. Our judge was world renowned tuba soloist Patrick Sheridan. While the group felt we gave a first rate performance of a wonderful work, the judge was not familliar or impressed with the piece. However, after giving our performance, we traveled down the road to the United States Marine Corps monument for some photographs, and ended up giving an impromptu performance to the delight of one Japanese tourist.
