This concert was held right in the heart of the former East Germany and, with my apologies to any East Germans reading this review, this was an extremely pushy crowd. Not only did everybody keep using their elbows but as soon as Meat Loaf came on stage loads of people who hadn't got there early tried to push their way to the front which caused even more jostling. The woman next to me (without saying a word) just linked arms with me to make a barrier so that nobody else could get past us! It slightly marred my enjoyment of this concert.
The concert itself was also marred by the sound. It wasn't until halfway through the first verse of No Matter What that the sound engineers turned on Meat Loaf's microphone so until then we could only hear the music and see him mouthing the words! Also after the part when the crowd join in singing You Took the Words they forgot to turn down Tom's piano so he totally drowned out the rest of the band's and Meat Loaf's singing. Obviously what the band hear through their earphones (which they all use) is not what the audience hear as it took the band quite a while to realise this before they signaled to the techs.
The rest of the concert was very good. They changed Paradise slightly so that Patti was singing "It never felt so good" for a long time on her own while Meat Loaf watched.
Unfortunately, for some reason they didn't do the ending Rock'n'Roll part so it felt like a letdown to me (but not to the rest of the audience). Needless to say Kasim looked great in his usual long black leather coat and trousers and a black jumper too.
