Want to Own The Oldest Known Steinway?
Circa 1859, Beethoven Pianos will accept a commission to rebuilt and refinish this rare and genuine article
Notice that it comes with the original matching bench! Beethoven Pianos is a master rebuilder and restorer of pianos. They have their own factory and do custom work on many pianos. Their work comes out pretty close to "as new" too. This upright piano is very old, so old that a look inside reveals an arrangement of pins that looks genuinely primitive, although this piano does use an iron plate. The front is carved as you can see and behind this grille, would go a piece of good fabric. It was suggested to me by Carl Demler that the most likely fabric would be some shade of deep red velvet. This piano being about the oldest known surviving Steinway piano is waiting to be restored for a reasonable price to be negotiated with Beethoven by an interested buyer. It should turn out to be quite a good piano as well as a fascinating piece when finished.
