Realpolitik & Outlook V

The Great Stage Show in America

After the Conventions: Intermission

Act Two, The Campaign.

That's right friends. It's now time, once again to take a good look at the two guys "the system" has selected to become our next President. The charade of a democracy employing a republican form of government continues. But a similar charade played successfully for hundreds of years in that military dictatorship cum civilization known to fewer school kids these days as the Roman Empire. It is utterly pointless to state with absolute clarity and confidence that either of these men is wise, noble, caring, competent or sincere about anything accept getting elected to fill the position about to be vacated by the latest most corrupt individual ever to serve in this our highest national office.

The radio talk show host Lionel said the other night that the difference between the two candidates was that one is stupid while the other thinks we are stupid. Could both be right? Remember Jimmy Carter suggesting that America deserved a President as good as its people? We sure fell for that one didn't we? What's happened since? Do we deserve a President as stupid as we are? Lionel was right on both counts; both candidates are stupid and think we are stupid too. Or is this just for appearances?

The Polar Bear offers no advice on which candidate to vote for based on their personal merits. Accept the time honored American political tradition to choose between two evils, but don't sit this election out. There just might be local or state elections that are more important this year. Get out and vote. After all, if you don't play, you really have no right to a say. This should have been your plan from the beginning.

But first a little entertainment. That's right, a candidate who makes sense, or some sense anyway. I give you Carl Johnson. Go get em Carl! His comments about the average American earning $18K a year while his representative earns $100K a year and all that he says about the burden of taxes sure seems right. Those out there who keep saying that tax relief only benefits the rich or that we can't afford tax relief now are usually the sycophants who benefit most from the government's take, which I would remind you all is not collected as a voluntary contribution to a just national cause, but as a protection racket organized to keep jackbooted thugs and other milder condescending agents alive and well to go about the business of intruding on our lives and diminishing our freedoms. Bucky Fuller, the great inventor and author of the word synergy, used to say there was no difference between Al Capone and John D. Rockefeller. This year there's a specks difference between Algore and GW, that speck maybe being the gruesome business of partial birth abortions and even that speck is debatable.

Here's the Red League candidates on the LEFT; Count Al Gore of Tennessee, and Baron Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and the Blue League candidates on the RIGHT; Prince George W. Bush of Texas and former Grand Vizier, Dick (appropriate name) Cheney of nowhere.

Click on two top pictures above for more links on each of the main candidates. Chances are you wouldn't want either of them to marry into your family, try to sell you a car, babysit your kids or do anything else of any real importance. That's why they've been selected to run the country. They will both tell you that it matters who gets elected. But let's consider for a moment their running mates of whom far less is known.

It doesn't always happen, but this year it might seem that the candidates for Vice President are better than those running for President. Joe Lieberman was supposedly showing statesmanship and courage by denouncing President Clinton during the Monica mess. But in the days following his selection one heard more "sucking up" to the usual old Red League pols than one would have imagined. Does Joe have any backbone? Did he ever have any? Or is he just a "nice guy?" And what's that saying about nice guys anyway?

The Blue League candidate for Vice President sometimes looks as though he can snap the top off a pop bottle with his upper lip. His "service" goes way back into other Blue League administrations. This guy certainly exudes the ability to command without getting all upset about anything. But is that real security or something else? Some of the same people who have been targeted by conspiracy buffs as New World Order insiders have been linked with this man.

It is of course the Polar Bear's contention that the New World Order has existed already for at least 150 years if not since the inception of this nation. So there's nothing new or particularly more dangerous about this Blue League bunch than former bunches from the same side. Some would say vote Blue League if you want to deny Bill Clinton a blanket pardon. Hell, if Bill really wanted a pardon that bad he could have pulled a Dick Nixon, resigned, let Algore be President long enough to give it to him. Why didn't Bill do that? Because Bill thinks his luck wont run out? Maybe. But more likely he just likes being where he is and anyway Bill has so much dirt on so many people in both leagues that, well, if you really thought Bill would ever face justice for anything he might probably have done, you can just forget it.

A Red League victory would guarantee Bill goes Scot free. It also guarantees the same level of high taxation, inept foreign policy, mismanagement of the military, more tolerance for marginalized people who are already getting on most people's nerves. This side always plays to people who think of themselves as victims. Ironically its solutions are to victimize them some more.

Other Blue League benefits might be lower taxes for the middle classes, more control of local affairs including public schools, a more prepared military with a higher morale, less outrageous rulings in damage cases and no more partial birth abortions. This side always plays to people who think of themselves as independent, hard working and normal. Its solutions are to force the abnormal into being independent, hard working and normal, or else!

Right now the Blue League has an edge. By election day, that edge may get razor thin. As I said earlier, the many local elections are probably far more important, so please, go out there and vote. Play the game. The closer to home these people are to you, the more it matters. One hopes that more local offices are being contested by better people than those running for national office. Usually this is the case as they are closer to where you live and work.

And one final word of advice: If any of you have some idea that another league might spring up to challenge the existing leagues, that hope is increased many times over by the election of people from these other leagues to LOCAL and STATE level offices. For instance, if you think we need a Green party to run with the Red and the Blue then elect Green candidates to local and state offices. If you think we need a Libertarian party on a national level, then vote for that party in local and state elections, etc. and so on. I'm still amazed that the people of Minnesota had the courage to elect someone from neither league to be their governor and he has amazed us all with his humor and good sense. He might have been the best candidate to run for President, but at this point he's also shown himself to be too smart to do that.

It seemed necessary and appropriate for me to put up something about the upcoming election, not that I expect too many people to read this. Oh well... Nobody has even figured out where my final salutation comes from or its significance. If you think you know, e-mail me at dpbmss@aol.,com.

Be seeing you...
