The American Way

Those of you who have read my posts elsewhere know that I value the ironic, the sarcastic, the weird, the provocative and the shrill as opposed to the conformist, politically correct, gutlessly liberal, hopelessly idealistic and over sensitive. I am interested in exposing the truth, which is so often hard to find, even when it's staring one in the face.
The story I want to relate was reported in a book I started to read a few months ago, but decided not to finish. I was doing some research on the idea of "soulmates". This book wasn't going to tell me anything more than I already knew, since it wasn't as much about soulmates as about Hollywood, a place I know well enough to stay clear of for the rest of my life. Maybe some of you read the book. I didn't even bother to put down the title or the author in my research ledger, where I write down all the titles and authors of the all the books I have read from cover to cover and the date I finished them.
This was a story made for the movies. A financially successful man in his late sixties or early seventies claimed that he'd met his former childhood sweetheart, who had died when she was young, in the reincarnated person of a young woman in her mid twenties who reputedly looked to be Bay Watch material. There were all sorts of testimonials to the effect that despite their considerable age difference, these people were "made for each other", soulmates, etc.
Now everyone else out there with half a brain knows exactly what was going on here. The guy was old, bald and rich. The woman was pretty and maybe young enough to be the guy's granddaughter. Do I really care? Of course not. Is it funny? It sure is to me in an ironic way. And yet there's all the stuff people say to get around the fact that something sure seems wrong with this picture. What's right with it?
1) It only proves that if you have enough money you can get the prettiest and youngest woman you desire. You know the four things a successful man can look forward to as he grows older? Younger women, older whiskey, faster horses and more money.
2) A pretty woman will give up almost anything for the chance to inherit a lot of money. She knows the old dog can't out live her so she's willing to say and be whatever he wants until his time comes.
Am I cynical? You bet I am! Is there anything particularly immoral about this story? Remember, this is neither heaven nor hell: this is planet earth. The so called "sentient" beings here, known as humans, at one time considered themselves servants of the gods, then gods themselves and nowadays the accidents of natural selection. The "spirit of the age" is material progress. There is no immortal soul, no basic morality, no truth but success.
We get what we deserve. But some would say we get what we can get away with. It makes sense that we have teachers who molest attractive children of the opposite sex and heads of state who allegedly have private liaisons. After all he must have known that his childhood idol had the same perks and he expected to have them too when he got the job.
Into this mix we put the conventional wisdom, they that wear the "white hats" and they that wear the "black hats". For instance, someone is always going to make a derogatory comment about Richard Nixon. It's inevitable. Despite this, his presidential memorabilia continues to outsell all others and his books will be read, if the world goes on, by any future leaders really interested in finding out how to do the business of leading others. Sure, Nixon had his problems, but was he really that bad? Meanwhile a guy like Lyndon Johnson, who may have been the crookedest man ever to be president, will be passed over. It's often difficult to be objective.
The two political parties have been in existence a long time. It was set up that way by the real government, the oligarchy that started this country and continues to run it behind the curtains of the theatre piece called American politics. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." The Democrats were the party that supported slavery before the Civil War and are still looking for dependents; slaves. You can be as "liberal" as you please as long as you get their permission. What they call liberalism isn't really liberal at all but merely a brand of fascism. The Republicans, who used to be called Federalists, were the good and greedy people of New England who financed the Revolution and brought us all the American dream. The two had a few things in common, one being Freemasonry. In truth America is the most modern Masonic country in the world. Even Bill Clinton started in a DeMolay group in Arkansas.
The honored U.S. Constitution was written behind closed doors and only landed gentlemen were part of it. There has always been an elite in this country, but it has always remained hidden from view. It was done that way on purpose. The rest of us are fed whatever it takes to keep us at our daily tasks and paying our taxes.
Rather than viewing any of this as "not as it should be", I have preferred to accept it all as "the way it is". It helps keep me from the frustrations and disappointments of idealism and enables me to function effectively. Nevertheless, it's consequences are ironic and funny to behold.
I hope to continue to read the entertaining things some people put into message boards and websites. With the internet we have a new form of entertainment, the interactive electronic soapbox. I love it and I guess more and more people do too. It will have an effect on the paradigm we call the United States of America. It will become harder and harder for any of the elites to function without being recognized for what they are; basically idiots with nothing better to hope for than the greed of increasingly degraded power. Nothing stays the same forever. Not on planet earth.
Raising my glass to cheer you all on !!

PS: The recent motion picture The Matrix was a huge metaphor for the "reality" most people think they're living in today, and was, although flawed, carried through with a certain subversive verve. I may have decided to accept the matrix for now, but at least I know that it is a matrix. The present has made reckless revolutionary acts stupid, pointless and reactionary, just as Jacques Ellul said they always be. The future will be globalist whether we like it or not. The question is, to what extent will it be democratic or totalitarian?
An Example: Nixon and Clinton

Q: What would have happened if Nixon had been accused of the things our president [Clinton] has (presumably) done?
A: He would have been driven from office! The press, then as now, were hand in glove with the Democratic Party, believed to be the party of the "common man". The Republicans were then as now the party of "the filthy rich" and everyone hates the rich out of sheer envy. Besides Nixon was not a very likeable guy and Clinton despite his foibles is still very likeable, God knows why.
Neither party is for anybody but the ruling oligarchy.
