One reason for my visit to Clark Music was to find out the current state of Steinway pianos. Another was to try out the Boston piano (made for Steinway by Kawai and maybe soon by Young Chang) which I had not tried yet. I was also to try out a couple new Baldwin pianos and a very nice rebuilt Steinway. They didn't seem to have any Young Chang (Korea) or Chickering (by Baldwin) pianos at the time of my visit.

This store was and is very nice. If you're interested in top flight high fidelity equipment, their store next door features the best available. But I confined my visit to the piano store which was very personably run by a largely female staff. While I was there a few other reasonably good pianists came in and tried out some pianos. We applauded their performances. It is often very helpful to hear someone else play a piano in order to get an idea of what it sounds like.
