The Schulze-Pollmann Piano
The poor man's Fazioli?
The picture at left is of a thing of great beauty, the
Schulze-Pollmann 190F six foot grand piano, looking straight down on it from the top. Made in Italy based on German design. Notice in particular how much soundboard is exposed compared with other pianos. Their plate design is unique; sparse, allowing more wood to show. It plays and sounds like a great European piano should, Renner action and hammers, Kluge keyboard, wonderful finishes. Suggested retail price of $30,000 US. This is one of my picks for one of the best pianos being made in the world right now. Unique, elegant, supurb. The action and hammers are Renner, the strings Roslau and the soundboard has a serial number as well as the piano. It comes from the same red spruce forest as the wood Fazioli soundboards. And one more detail, the rounded tail of this piano is like another very much sought after piano, the Steinway "O".
