Our redesign of the GeoCities Vienna interfaces continues, on the page, under the page, and in the gut. Below the surface, you'll begin seeing some clearer HTML coding by yours truly, complete with better descriptive comments dispersed throughout, in the hopes that it will help speed up the time it normally takes me to lay out a few pages. As always, we hope that what we present keeps getting better, and finally the soul of the zine -- indeed of GeoCities Vienna -- is being rethought by the people who have chosen to give their time to this virtual Vienna home.
Pages that don't change don't get revisited. Every month we offer a host of new articles and columns in Vienna Online, and every month we get a couple of thousand new views. But our other important page, called Vienna Resources, is rarely changed because it is more of a repository for information that itself doesn't change. That may change as we reinvent ourselves. For sure, the entry to the information is going to change, and it's going to happen in the next three weeks. We hope to have it announced here and in the next World Report, the monthly newsletter put out by Yahoo!GeoCities.
With that thought in mind, it gives us fresh vigor to support and recommend our Vienna Residents Club. This is an excellent place to interact with others in GeoCities Vienna, telling them about your new pages, joining in on contests and redesigns, and explaining to some people that you're not really from Vienna, but you like classical music so that's where your homepage is. It's also a good place to find help with something on your homepage.
You're welcome to give us your input into the redesign of the Resource pages. It's well on the way, however, so, if you don't make it for this redesign, maybe we can use your idea for the 2001 reworking. The zine is constantly being reworked, and your input is needed for that, as well as what goes into it. We can't do much to redesign the interface of the Residents Club (though we'll keep trying to find the secret), but that is where the important changes are taking place, the ones that affect the essence of GeoCities Vienna's identity.
You don't want to miss that, do you?
