Appendix 1: HTML servers
Apache
- Apache needs 12MB hard drive, (3MB after installed), an ANSI-C compiler and Perl V5 or above.
- It can run on Unix/Linux/WinNT/Win95 and can be gotten from http://www.apache.org/dist.
MS Personal Web Server
- This needs 16-32MB RAM, 40MB hard drive and IE V4 or above.
- It runs on Win 95 with a 33-90MHz Pentium chip
- It can be gotten from http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/NT40ptPK/default.asp as part of the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
MS Internet Information Server
- This needs 32-64MB RAM, 200MB hard drive and IE V4 or above.
- It runs on Win NT with a 90MHz Pentium chip
- It comes as part of the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
iPlanet WebServer Enterprise Edition (iPlanet now handles Netscape servers)
- This needs 32-64MB Ram and 100-200MB hard drive.
- It runs on Unix/Linux/WinNT/Hewlett-Packard/IBM AIX
- It can be gotten from http://www.iplanet.com/products/product_map/product_name_2.0a.html
