The Low End Power This page is written by Ameen Rizvi.Just for those who cares the performance. Do it at your own risk. This is something cool that i found out. I noticed that at 5,100 RPM something kicks in. Now since VTEC was employed on the 1992 Civic Si and the 1992 Integra GS-R why wouldnt theexperimental G25A Vigor motor have it? After weeks of pondering this noise and waste much gas going to 5100 RPM i was certiain that this was VTEC. I took my valve cover off to get it polished and my heart sank. No extra cam lobes. This was a non-vtec engine. This was now confusing. What could this noise be. Well thanks to Motor Trend TV i was on my way to the Answer. In one episode they showed the new Type-S having a Valve that opens up in the Intake Manifold to allow more air in the engine when needed. Well i looked and looked at my motor. And i noticed that the intake plenums are larger then most cars. So after searching i hit the jackpot. There is a throttle looking thing on the back of the intake manifold under a bell shaped vacuum housing. That is the throttle for the extra valve. I had an idea to keep this valve open all the time to have power throughout the band. All you have to do is take off the vacuum line leading to the bell, then plug the ling with a screw and your done. Now you have a larger intake manifold. this is great for people who want power without going to 5100RPM. |
