A: Mods are for your weapon, shields, hull, cargo, and engine speed.

1.AThe Absolute Basics

1- Internet Explorer is about the only browser that will work correctly with the game all the time, if your not using IE and you have a problem switch to it before asking for help, if the problem persists in IE ask for help.

2. There is no easy way to get money/ships/experience etc in this game. It all takes time and dedication. There is no loaning / giving / or transferring of money to other players in the game.

Do not ask someone to give you money or you may find yourself out in Timbuktu with everyone laughing at you.

3.There are maps available for the game, please download and use them. Chat can quickly fill up simply by people asking directions to somewhere.

B Game Basics

Earning Money

1- A beginning player is well advised to spend a large amount of their time in the holodeck. Fight everyone on the left side of your list. Win or lose you gain money and experience. For a beginning player it is advisable to try to make level 5 in order to be able to purchase a better class of freighter.

2 - While there are several ways to make money in the game the two best ways for the beginner are Trading and Jobs. Trading involves buying goods at any factory outpost and selling them at any housing outpost that has a demand for them. This style of trading earns $5 per good traded.

Jobs have a better payout, up to $25 for each good but you must deliver them to the specific outpost that has contracted for the job. Jobs are advertised in the Job Centers. When doing a job you must purchase and deliver all the goods before you get paid so it is highly advisable to have enough cash on hand to finish the job. A simple formula to determine this is,( #of goods X #of different items to be delivered X 5).

For example a job calling for 100 of each product would be (100 X 5 X 5 = $2500). Once you finish the job, return to the job center and click on finish the job to receive payment (at the time of this writing there is a small glitch that doesn’t let the payment show in your hand immediately, easily fixed by doing a small transaction or refreshing), but it is there.

There is also a third way of trading and that is trading artifacts, these are purchased at archeology sites and sold at museums. I personally didn’t find this a very profitable style of trading due to the distances involved and the low production rates of these artifacts.

A slightly more advanced way of earning money is in the development of planets which I will cover later on in this guide.

Getting Around

Maneuvering in 3700AD is relatively easy, systems that you can travel to without using hyperdrive (also know as hyperspace by some people) are listed on the left side of your screen. Moving to them only takes a second. The second way to move is by using hyperdrive travel. Hyperspace can be used to reach any system in a sector but can take quite a bit of time unless your ship is equipped with expensive speed mods. Some systems are only reachable by hyperdrive, we generally refer to these systems as being "off the routes".

At this time 3700AD consists of 11 different sectors. Different sectors are reached via jumpgates located in each sector. Not all sectors connect with every other sector. For example sector 00 only connects to sectors 01 and 05. Moving to a different sector is as easy as going to a system with a jumpgate and then moving to the green system.

It is highly recommended that you use the maps for intersector travel.

Outpost Buildings

Outposts can be purchased at any open slot for 5 million dollars (but if you ask me I think outposts are over rated). At the time of this writing it is very difficult finding any open slots but they do open up from time to time when a player quits or goes inactive too long. Currently the best chance of finding an open slot is by exploring off the routes. There is really no easier way to get one at this time. It is assumed that once combat is implemented that attacking an outpost will let you take it over but this is only an assumption.

The following is a list of outpost buildings and their functions:

Housing

Provides living habitat for a population. Owner of the housing earns $2400 for each population PER DAY. Increasing the level of the housing increases the population, Remember that these people need to be kept fed or they will die off.

Factories

Pproduces products used to feed outpost housing. Rate of production is 100 per level.

Owner receives $5 for each good purchased. Stock is replenished every hour. Maximum amount in stock is 5 hours worth.

Holodeck

Currently the only place for your captains to gain experience. To fight someone you simply click on their name on the left side of the screen. You can only fight people who are within +/- 5 levels and +/- 1500 rating of your captain. You can only fight each person once per hour. (It is advisable to always leave one opponent unchallenged in order to be able to make the list refresh right away the next hour. Fight everyone you can because win or lose you gain experience and money.

Training Facility

This is the place where you train your captains to gain levels. You can also check on how much experience and money you will need to attain the next level. Experience required per level rises at a rate of 1.6, so simply multiply the experience need by 1.6 to know the experience need for each subsequent level. As for which attribute to improve it’s a personal choice, but most people tend to improve speed because battles are generally won by the person getting the first shot. Owners of these get a 40% commission.

Bank

Money can be stored and transferred here. Currently a 2 billion limit although for short terms more can be put in here. Anything over 2 billion can be lost to the server generally at a refresh. You can only transfer money between your own captains.

Ezy Management

Here you can check on your own outposts, their locations, what’s built on them and how many supplies are on them.

Job Center

This is where you get jobs. Use caution here that you do not accept too large of a job. The rate is what the job pays for each good. The current maximum pay rate is $25. After finishing a job you come back here and click on finish to get paid.

Yellow Pages

Here you can find or list buildings that are on various outposts.

Hall Of Fame

Here you can find the leaders in money and the leaders in captain levels.

Captain Registra

Here you can change the name of your captains. Owner receives a 80% commission.

Mod Shops

Produces mods, replenishes every hour, all shops are linked (a mod can and will appear in several different mod shops but if purchased it disappears from all shops). Level of shops only affects the commission the owner receives (a level 1 shop receives 20%, each subsequent level increases commission 2% up to a max of 50%).To add a mod to your ship requires you visit a mod refit shop.(see below)

Mod Refit Shops

Only place where you can add mods to your ship. To add weapon / shield / reactor mods you must first remove the weapon /shield / reactor from your ship, then click on the mod you wish to add and which item you wish to mod. Hull / speed / cargo mods can be applied by simply clicking on the mod you wish to use, WARNING each weapon / shield / reactor may only be modded 3 times, for cargo / hull / speed it is a TOTAL of 3 mods between them in any combination

Mod Junk Shop

Here you can sell your unwanted mods at 50% of their original value.

Shipyards

Only place to purchase new ships. Level of shop corresponds with level of ships available. Captains must be at least equal to the level of ships they are trying to buy. To purchase a new ship all weapons, shields and reactors must be removed from old ship. Cargo, speed and hull mods remain on the old ship. You will receive a trade-in for your old ship when purchasing a new one.

Ship Equipment

This is where you purchase new equipment for your ships, use caution when buying as equipment is rated by level and size. A small weapon will not fit in a tiny slot but a tiny weapon will fit in a small slot.

Equipment Yard

Here you can sell unwanted ship equipment for 50% of its value.

Repair Facility

Not currently implemented.

Planet Development

Planet buildings are easily the way to earn a fortune and get a nice steady income in the game.

Risks are involved though, at this time there is a planet bug which suddenly takes all buildings from your control making you have to start over from scratch. There also seems to be a future feature that will allow sabotage of buildings. There is also no way in the game to see what planets you have built on so keep notes. Maximum number of buildings one captain may control is 32,767 of each building. First thing in planet buildings is to have a demand, to check for demand click on the arrow beside the building you are planning on constructing, here you will see the demand by residents and tourists. Do not build more than whichever demand is smallest.

Once you have built the buildings of your choice you must advertise them. Make sure to fully advertise all buildings.
