Suikoden {spoilers!!!}

Suikoden is based on the novel "Shui Hu Zhuan" or is translated as "Tales of the Water Margin" originally. The whole concept of the game was building a nation. The 108 stars of destiny is supposedly a symbolism. It says that certain people may actually affect the future of the world and teamwork does work. The 108 stars were based on the Stars said in the novel.

Gensou Suikoden
This is the story of Tir Mcdohl (this name is now common so i used it). The true rune featured here is the "Soul Eater". His best friend Ted passed it on to him as his last wish before he was captured. This is where the story really begins. A lot of instances of betrayal and coincidences. Tir revived the Liberation Army as the dying wish of Odessa. The strange power of his true rune is that many of his dear friends will die so that it's power can be used. First was Odessa Silverburg, who died protecting a child. Second was Gremio, his servant, who died sacrificing himself to let his Young Master escape. Third was Teo McDohl, his father, who died in battle and finally accepted the ideals of his son. Last was it's past owner, Ted, who had the Soul Eater to take his life because the rune still recognized him. It's truly a sad story. I hope nothing like that happens to me...

Gensou Suikoden II
[3 years after S1]. This is the story of Riou Genkaku (the common name for him out there...). He is a Highlander along with his friend ,Jowy, and his sister, Nanami. They were caught in the crossfires of war and found out more than what they needed to know. Along the early parts of their journey, Riou and Jowy each get half of a True Rune (Rune of Beginning). Because of these runes, they are destined to fight eachother. They each get their own army but we know who will win. In the end, Riou will duel with Jowy. They will tie and still share the Rune but, they go on a journey along with Nanami, who acted dead and/or M.I.A.. But it was still a happy ending though. I'm still disturbed by the fact that Jowy is married at such a young age...

Genso Suikoden III
[15 years after S2]. This is a story of three people who are destined to be Fire Champion. FYI: 50 years prior to S3, there was a war in the grasslands that fell victim to the True Fire Rune. These three people are: Hugo, the son of Lucia and heir of the Karaya clan. The best choice actually... Geddoe, the Harmonian mercenary who holds the True Lightning Rune. I really don't like him but he's good enough. Chris Lightfellow, the captain of the Zexen Knights. Her father is Wyatt Lightfellow who is the past owner of the True Water Rune. So many elemental Runes, ne? I like her style though. The enemy in the game is suprisingly one of the Suikoden fans' fave bishounen, Luc! He has twisted ideas but the group see to that. What's fun is that we all see each of their point of views and their thoughts. We get to play three more characters, too. Thomas, the castle's owner and caretaker. He has such a weak build for a Tenkai star though... Koroku, the dog. The only thing you do is walk around the castle and maybe talk to people. It's funny though. Luc is here as well. Only if you get the 108 stars. I fell bad to what happens to him here.

Gensou Suikoden IV
[150 years before S1]. I don't know the hero's name... This occurs in the Island Countries. There is so much water! Jeane and Viki is back! Yay! The true rune here is the "Rune of Punishment". It supposedly takes the soul of the user once it's true power is used. The plus side is that it gives the power of Forgiveness and Reconciliation. In other words, it may stop wars and disputes. Unfortunately, death isn't an option...

Gensou Suikogaiden
[Between S1 & S2]. This is an inbetweener story. Nash Latkje is the hero here. He appeared in S3 too. Actually, This is an intro to S2. The characters were introduced and all the unexplainde stuff. I watched the movie and it was great.

Genso Suikogaiden II
[Between S2 & S3]. Another inbetweener. I didn't see any S3 characters so it's more focused on S2's stories and sagas. Nash is still here. Better opening movie.
